Hailed as Scotland’s adventure coast, Argyll is the captivating county on the west side of the country with 23 inhabited islands within the region. This county is a filming hotspot with its relative proximity to Glasgow.

The mainland is scattered with beautiful towns and villages, farms, rugged vistas and spine-tingling beaches which will take your breath away.

Argyll’s islands are captivating, from the white sandy beaches of Colonsay, the stargazing Isle of Coll, the Isle of Tiree ‘land below the waves’ and Islay, which is world renowned for its whisky distilleries.

The region was described as ‘Phenomenal’ by Matthew Weiner, a Hollywood producer who shot Love me to Death in various locations throughout Argyll including; Lochgilphead, Inveraray and Cairndow.

STRACHUR SMIDDY, STRACHUR

Step back in time to days when transport relied on horses and the blacksmith's forge. The Strachur Smiddy has a long history, the first recorded reference being in 1791 and it functioned until the mid-1950s. It is located between Loch Fyne and The Clyde, a busy route for merchants, packmen, metalworkers, chiefs and their messengers. It was restored in 1997 as a museum.
