Dumfries is an historic market town with a medieval stronghold and alluring red-hued sandstone bridges scattered along the River Nith. It is home to the romantic Caerlaverock Castle which features in the film The Decoy Bride.

Galloway Forest Park is the UKs largest forest park with three hundred square miles of wilderness, lochs, glens and plenty of wildlife including wild goats and red deer.

The borders boast three impressive Abbeys including; Melrose Abbey a beautiful 14th Century ruin, the medieval ruins of Dryburgh Abbey and Jedburgh Abbey, a ruined 12th century Augustinian abbey. There are also stately homes and castles including; the turreted 18th century Floors Castle, the ruins of Hume Castle, and the stately homes of Mellerstain and Abbotsford House.

With so much to offer it’s no wonder that the Scottish borders has a dramatic history of film and TV productions from sci-fi thrillers, fantasy and ghost stories, to period dramas and comedies.
