BALLOCHNECK, BUCHLYVIE

Ballochneck is a 19th Century small estate with a stunning country house full of original features including large fireplaces, high ceilings, panelled walls and impressive interiors. A flight of sandstone steps at the entrance leads to a pillared porch with a large door leading to a grand entrance hall with elaborate panelling and big fireplace. To the right is the drawing room with marble fireplace and large bay window overlooking the immediate gardens. The Dining room again has a large fireplace but also has real impact with its panelled and mirrored walls. In total there are 10 bedrooms throughout the house and at the top, in the turret is a  magnificent Billiard room looking out to views across the whole of Stirlingshire.

Externally, the grounds and gardens surrounding Ballochneck span over 200 acres and provide views of both Ben Lomond and the Trossachs to the NW and Stirlingshire to the East. 

Within the grounds there are a number distinctive areas:

- Original old stables with a dovecote 

- A lovely cottage that is currently uninhabited

- 2 ponds with a fishing hut looking over the fishing pond

- Wood

- Wooded glen leading to Ballochneck Burn

- Old lawn tennis court

- Polytunnel and summer garden complete with bar

INTERIORS
GLENFINNAN HOUSE HOTEL

Glenfinnan House Hotel is a small country house hotel situated on the shores of Loch Shiel overlooking Ben Nevis and The Glenfinnan Monument. It was bought in 1971 by Tearlach and Isobel MacFarlane who converted the former derelict mansion house not only into a hotel but a vibrant local community hub for traditional music and art.

The hotel lawn stretches from the hotel to the shore which allows direct access to the loch.

It offers 14 en-suite bedrooms, many equipped with four poster beds and views over the loch and “The Ben”.
Each room is unique in terms of size and décor and all rooms are equipped with spacious bath or shower rooms.
Eight rooms have jacuzzi baths. Threerooms are composed of two-room, family suites.


Downstairs, the public facilities comprise of one local pub 35sm, and three larger public rooms (restaurant 50sm, drawing room 40sm and hall 40sm) which can be used for smaller functions (20-50 people).
